Lab D complications

Overall, I think the most important thing I improved on in my Lab D lesson was my time management. I did this by cutting the activities shorter than I felt they should be, since my problem on earlier labs was letting them run too long and running out of time. One of the ways that I have been able to increase activity time and deacrease instruction time of the course of all my teaching lessons is finding activites that students can relate or are in some way familiar with. For instance, in my lab D, I had the students play a game of ultimate netball, or ultimate frisbee with a netball(volleyball). This fit perfectly with my progressions, and all I had to do was tell the students to play ultimate frisbee, which they know, and go over some cues briefly.

Heart rates...they work for some

My heart rate information didn't register because I forgot to hit the button when activity start. Therefore, I got information from Ben. I think heart rate monitors are increasingly going to have a place in physical education settings because it is important information when dealing with child obesity, and this is a big issue.

First Teacher Assignment (saved from september)

Watching myself on tape, I picked up a lot of unexpected tendencies I have. First and most obvious, my use of "um" an "uh" was excessive. Also, I seemed to lack control of the classrom. I was too timid and spoke too much to my class as though they were my peers and not my students. It will help when I get to go over what I am going to say and have a better understanding of my lesson in the future.

lab C lesson 2

Hearing my own recorded voice was just as weird this time around as it was last time. I talked way to fast at the beginning of the lab. I had to switch my second game just a few minutes before class, and I fell short on having a proper amount of time for my second game. Overall, the class performed by cues and accomplished my objectives, but I feel a little rushed in terms of having the class truely understand the objective of the game of netball by the end of lab c, but since I am doing it for lab D as well, I think I have a pretty good start. I was somewhat frustrated with the lack of activity time and the excessive amount of instruction time when I was filling out my time coding sheet. This is truely an area of weakness for me.

Feedback analysis for- ultimate

Here is the link for my feedback analysis form...http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgdnwtn5_2gs9zp3fv. This was definetly a wake up call for me, I cant beleive I only had one tally for individual feedback during my whole lesson...and no possitive feedback.

feedback

Hearing my own voice recorded was pretty weird especially when I say "um" and "uh" about 3 times a piece and don't even realize when I actually speak. Pretty frustrating habbit. There were a few times when I spoke too casually when giving feedback to individual students becasue I veiwed as a peer and not one of my students, which I guess in natural since they are my age but its still something I need to avoid in the future. The only other thing I noticed was that I repeated myself and misspoke a time or two.
